Hello everyone,

i'd like to present to you all my approach to build a canon Defiant Class starship – as seen on TV and in cinema while still being able to hold its ground in elite – and advanced content.

I have gone through several ressources to find out what the „correct“ weaponary of the Defiant would be and mixed it up with the restrictions (and possibilities) STO is giving me.
The basic idea here is to create a working build that features cannons (ofc), quantum (fore) AND photon (aft) torpedos aswell as beams. Plus i wanted to integrate the cloaking device and some maniac-like speed and maneuverability to create some stealthy BoP-feeling.
Currently it is a basic A2B build that keeps all my abilities on global cooldown. It is focused on single target abilities to keep the aggro low (plus ive never seen the defiant firing at more than one ship at the time). Still for the future i can imagine switching to a reciprocity build but would then have to switch to Torpedo Spread, BFAW and CSV to increase the aggro.

So here it is (please note that i do not mention the exact weapon mods etc... Just take the best you have):

Skilltree:
I use a very allround-type skilltree on this char because i want to be flexible instead of squeezing the last bit of DPS out of my builds. Therefore i have 6 points in all imprtant tactical, engineering and science skills and can run energy, torpedo, drain, exotic, tank – and speedtank builds with my mainchar. In fact a build like this requires a bit of flexibility and allround-approach (hint: energy + kinetic damage, flow caps and power levels).

Tactics:
The tactic is to always keep moving (its simply more fun like hat) and try to kill everything in your first strafing run (or give it the rest with the terran torpedo). Usually the shields are down when the first torpedos hit (i currently fire a torp every 2 or 3 secs) - so it often works.
This ship will rarely die because it grabs low aggro and evades almost everything. On the other side every Tac Cube will go boom within seconds.
If i stand still i use the Quantum Phase Destabilizing Beam for some nice spike damage.
The Cloak/Battle cloak also helps with dps aswell as survivability and creates some hillarious ambush moments.

I have never parsed this ship because i didnt create it for uber-dps but it feels to be in the upper range of my builds at about 60k dps and i am sure that better pilots than me can get it up far more.

If you didn't have the Omni-Array, I was going to be upset with you. All canonish builds should have an omni-array. Pretty much standard.

Exactly. I wouldnt even think of building a canon defiant without it. Plus BO3 grants some nice spike damage.

I updated the build a little now that i got my hands on a golden iconian warpcore. I now run 2-piece iconian and 2-piece AMACO. Feels even less squishy now and the AMACO deflector isnt too bad. Maybe i will try the combo on all my torp builds.

Lately i have also played around with CSV and TS instead of CRF and THY and running a reciprocity build on it but it actually felt a little too squishy for my taste because of all the AoE damage and its aggro. Not sure if i will go that path.

I also did some parsed runs with that little thing and in 50k channel runs it constantly does about 60k dps. Not bad for a themed single target build and especially for a pilot with my skills . And certainly enough for any endgame content.

I'm kind of afraid to get rep gear because of the upcoming changes, but you'd think that MACO would be ok.

I had to keep regular phasers though, I like all of my stuff orange like in the shows and movies.
